A mother of two, pregnant with three: 36 hours in the operating room to give birth to her three children is well worth the dedication of a wonderful mother giving birth to sweet angels.
Michella, from Copenhagen, Denmark, gave birth to her triplets via ᴄᴀᴇsᴀʀᴇᴀɴ sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ while just over 35 weeks pregnant. The new mom already had two daughters when she became pregnant for the third time, and she didn’t hesitate to share with her 260,000 Instagramfollowers the wonderful but also difficult journey of carrying triplets.
“The birth of triplets was the craziest 36 hours of my life”.
The influencer said she’d like to “curl up in a corner and cry about how unimaginable it all seemed”. In a video she posted the day before her triplets were born, which garnered thousands of likes and comments, she admitted that she was “scared out of her mind”.
She said, “It’s so surreal getting ready to give birth to her triplets: ‘It’s so surreal getting ready to welcome three babies and I feel like I can’t handle any of it. I can’t imagine it. I have bad thoughts. I can do this, will they make it? But luckily, I know that the only thing that matters to me is that my babies are born tomorrow. And on that score, I can say we’ve succeeded. I’ve kept them for over 35 weeks. And now we can only hope for the best.
She also revealed that her doctors had discovered that the ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ had built up in her uterus and her body was unable to expel it, increasing the ʀɪsᴋ of ɪɴꜰʟᴀᴍᴍᴀᴛɪᴏɴ and that she was now considering undergoing a ᴄᴜʀᴇᴛᴛᴀɢᴇ.
After welcoming her triplets, the influencer called the birth “the craziest 36 hours” of her life. “I’m in a terrible state ᴘᴀɪɴ,” she wrote. “And right now, I can’t imagine getting out of this nightmare. Luckily, lying with three adorable boys on my chest helps. Yes, I’ve already had the pleasure of having them all together, and it was magical.”
In the end, Michella said it was all “worth it” and that her heart is “about to break with happiness and love” for her triplets. “There’s an emptiness in my belly, but my heart and hands have never been so full of love and happiness,” she wrote on Instagram. “My boys are amazing. That’s pretty much how I can sum it up. It’s peaceful and we’re totally in love.”
In a post she shared 10 days after giving birth, Michella opened up about her post-baby body and admitted that, although her belly has “shrunk significantly”, she still feels very uncomfortable. “It’s already shrunk considerably, but it’s heavy and incredibly painful,” she explained. “C-sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴs aren’t uncomfortable, unless I have to cough, sneeze or (God forbid) vomit. But my intestines roll around in this big belly, which is uncomfortable and ᴘᴀɪɴꜰᴜʟ. My uterus lies just under the skin and is extremely sensitive – the slightest touch bothers me. And for the past few days, my belly has looked like a big black mark. It hurts even when I breathe.”
What’s it like raising five children?
She also talked about the difficulty of raising five children at once. “Oh, you have no idea how much I’ve cried, how torn up I’ve felt, how tired I’ve been and how much I’ve given up in the last few days,” she shared on Instagram. “It’s indescribably hard having two three-year-olds and three premature babies. Much harder than I ever imagined.
My girls are angry, incredibly bored and just plain unruly and rude. They miss us and are certainly disappointed to some extent. And that’s totally understandable. So I’m torn between two completely different groups of children and two different needs. I want to come home to my girls, to give them love and security. But I also want to give my boys the best start in life and myself the best start in breastfeeding. It can’t all be done at the same time.
